>>527026>If you insist on a candle lantern, you can try the one by CoghlanI've used both and IMO the UCO is well worth the money if you're going to use it more than a few times. Mine's almost 20 years old and though I've had to replace the glass after a drunken beach party it's pretty durable if you don't abuse it, also, you can actually get replacement glass. The add-on reflector makes a nice spot of light underneath that you can sit under and read, instead of the shadow you'd get without.
The one downside to the original model is that it uses special candles, these are cheap and easy to get in Canada (at MEC) but when I was traveling in Australia/South Pacific, they were expensive and hard to find. They make one that takes tea lights now, so that wouldn't be a problem.
That said, these days I still use the UCO as an outside camp lantern (the flame is cheerful especially on solo trips) but use an LED light inside the tent for safety.
