The lack of oxygen snuffs it out, and the ziplock prevents the fuel vapors from leaving. Or you can purposely underfill if you know your trip is short.
Though it's not really practical for <30 minute trips since it takes about 10-15 minutes to get up to temperature. Unless you pre-start it at room temperature
But for uses 1 hr or more it's much cheaper and warmer than the disposable packs. Disposable packs still have their place for stuffing in your boots, etc.
