>>1212993>>1212808You're right, I've seen people catch tons of fish with Dry flies, a float , and spinning gear. That said, fly fishing is much better to present little flies, and some trout are too much of a bitch to eat anything ten feet away from a float. It's much easier to accurately drift small nymphs at the depth you want. However fly fishing is hardly the most efficient method of fishing. You can't launch a big crankbait in heavy wind with a fly set up. Although you can troll with a fly set up, people who do that are cringy. Skittish fish don't exactly enjoy a 3mm thick piece of brightly colored nylon plopping on the water on top of them, live bait usually outperforms any artificial lure. Fly fishing has it's place but I'm not going to be the one who tries fly fishing for every random species and uses autistic looking flies to do it. I fly fish because it's more fun. If I'm trying to catch some perch or walleye for dinner I'd never consider a fly rod.
