If it’s and all purpose pistol (conceal carry, hiking etc) I’d recommend a closed emitter dot because they are sturdy and keep crude out of the emitter. I fucking love my Holosun 509T but the aimpoint p2 that is about to release is a quality option too.
If you don’t want a closed emitter because of the extra volume from it, go with a trijicon RMR type 2. They aren’t perfect but they are bombproof and won’t fail you when you need it.
