This white gas stove doesn't use a pressure pump. Instead, you pour a little gas into the cup where the valve pipe comes out (fuel tank cap sealed, of course) and light it. This warms up the whole thing, provides pressure in the tank and vaporizes the fuel before it hits the burner. I still have Dad's Primus, ought to dig it out for a photo. You can still buy the Svea/Optimus stove. This is the "classic" backpacker stove:
