I work on a ranch part time and it gets used as a multitool more than a knife. Last week I used it and a rock to try to chisel out a broken off steel water pipe. Got most of it but chipped the tip so I wasted like 20min going to get real tools to finish it.
The hardness is a little too high but it can take lighter hammer blows to the spine and tang. I don't think you can get softer in a knife though or it will not keep an edge for shit
