Do what the Mexicans do and wear a bandana/do-rag/handkerchief around your head where the hat band meets your head. That will soak up the sweat, is washable, and won't funk up or rot the hat. If you go without that then the hat's built in head band can seriously fuck up your skin because it is pretty hard to wash properly without harming the hat. There are also removable hat bands you can slip onto the hat's headband. Those are really the best since they don't add much heat trapping insulation to your head like the other solutions do, yet you can still remove them and wash them easily and they help keep the hat drier.
