I went to camp when I was about 10 and we had one counselor who ran a swamp tour and we literally just walked through swamps waist deep with our regular clothes on. it was a pretty wild experience actually merging with the muck and weeds. nobody got leeches or anything, it was just kind of stinkie.

in any case, i have loved swamps ever since

according to google they're pretty much limited to riverbanks and sunny marshy spots. so yeah it makes sense. kind of needs a combination of soily wetlands but also full sun.

little unappointed I didn't see any when I hiked the Midstate Trail a couple years ago
