theyve shown up in huge numbers in cali over the past 5 years. caught one that was like 11" on a live anchovy fishing off pleasure point last month.

>>889679you can use them for bait. hook them in back of the dorsal fin, they always want to swim down to the bottom so if you keep them just off the bottom theyre always struggling to swim down. do the same for shiner perch you catch. bring a bait rod and a rod to toss lures and your covered.
>>889700dont waste your time with circle hooks on those piers. theres no advantage to using them for the fish youll catch there, they do work great and a hook in the corner of the mouth prevents getting chewed off but a j hook is best off the piers and truthfully if you gut hook a fish just chop the line at the hook eye and the hook will eventually rust out.
