Pros:
Invented in 1921, meaning its a tried and tested design
The Brun family still partially owns the Brynje brand
One of the reasons for the invention, was potential material shortages. Not the obvious one where cotton is easier to source than wool, but the fact that wool as a base layer isn't very sturdy or industrially washable. It also moves the wear away from the wool middle layer, to the mesh shirt.
The design has survived 1 world war and the last 80 years of peace time, and was the most common conscript wear for the northern region.
Cons
Nylon is partially lipomanic. And fat gathers bacteria, as well as salt. So its worse than cotton for the same shirt and same use.
Its a extra layer.
Its not called the "wife beater" for nothing in Norway.
