In Scandinavia and certain other countries there is a right to camp in the wilderness even on other peoples land as long as you don't camp in sight of peoples homes. Also you can cross private land and fences around private land are not allowed unless you're keeping animals etc.
The exception is natural parks and nature preserves where there is only camping in designated places / times.
Also you can't stay for more than a few nights without the landowners permission.
