"humans are designed to eat fruit"
Have you ever noticed how long most herbivores spend eating? That's because in order to get enough protein to maintain the muscles they need to move, they have to eat a TON of low protein vegetation. Since meat has a higher protein content than fruit or vegetation, carnivores get their fill quickly. Our ancestors devoted all that time and protein to growing both larger brains and larger bodies
Human anatomy also disproves you. Our long legs aren't made for chasing down wild herds of apples, and our dexterous hands and superb eyesight (also a hallmark of a predator) didn't put together all those stone tools to cut grapes off the vine.
But hell, let's say we ARE designed to eat entirely fruit. Apricots have the highest protein content of all fruits at .49 grams. A 170 pound person would have to eat roughly 125 apricots per day to get the recommended .8g per pound of body weight
>tl;dr If humans were designed to eat fruit, we'd either be a lot smaller and dumber, or we'd eat apricots all damn day
