I can take a short drive to picrel and similar waterways or trails (or giant swathes of National Forest) just any old time I please. Fishing for native species is the siren call that leads me to all other /out/ activities, primarily boating (including long-weekend river floats), weekend trail treks, and occasionally even multi-day backcountry hiking trips.
These are absolutely necessary to have any hope of catching many native species, because the accessible waters are mostly stocked.
Anyway, I'm probably the most mercenary person shitposting in this thread. If there are native fish to be caught wherever you live, then chances are I'm going to love it.
