A cook set is the last piece of gear I need to not have to rely on buddies' gear. The thing is I'm having a hell of a time deciding between a canister stove, alcohol stove and bio-fuel stove. All of my friends have canister stoves and they are extremely convenient but are relatively bulky and loud as fuck. An alcohol stove would be gud but they seem messy and finding a pot stand that can hold a single serving mug seems difficult without sacrificing the ability to carry fuel in the stove (Etowah II) or keeping the price down without having to buy a Trangia and some fancy Ti Evernew accessory. Bio-fuel stoves seem to be the best for pack-ability and holding a small mug (Emberlit) but it rains a lot here and is either raining while we set up camp or has recently rained so the wood is soggy.
>TL;DR
I only ever need to boil a couple of cups of water at a time in a small and I want to maximize space savings to make a 50L pack carry enough clothes, food and gear for up to 3 day trips. Also, I need to burn soggy wood if I go bio-fuel. What do?
