The #1 biggest issue is the metal plate in the center that’s folded over the wire always slides up and down eventually and will let go of one end of the wire, either the line end or the lure. #2 is that the lure end of the wire can pull out quite easily on snags and fish. #3 is the smaller sizes are a pain in the ass to open and close unless you have long fingernails on your thumbs.
Pic related helps mitigate all 3 of those issues with the little 90 degree bend on either end of the wire. But the issue of a larger snap with an unnecessary swivel still exists, and the crappy metal plate that loosens up, which is why these ones
