There's a pretty big forest on the other side around grizedale but not very scenic. If you want isolation, go to the western lakes. Even then though, you'll still see tourists.
Kielder is as isolated as you can get in England. Hiked for 2 days there and only saw one other person (forestry ranger in a van, saw him both days and he obviously knew I was wild camping and didn't care, friendly bloke).
Just go to Scotland if you want isolation though, kielder is mostly boring plantation and a nice enough lake
