It's more of a decent chopper than a splitter, that's true but most of the time I just make wedges and hammer them in with the axe if they're too big to split easily. It's not a big deal to me. My KOA Cleaver will do the job of a small hatchet and it's actually an OK splitter for anything wrist sized or smaller.
I'd actually be more worried about finding a way to make a pellet mold to smelt new pellets for my air rifle or maybe invent ceramic ones IDK....or just make a usable self-bow and some arrows.
