A perfect bow shot means the deer dies from exsanguination in around 3 minutes and is unconscious in under a minute from hypovolemic shock. A near-perfect bow shot means the deer dies from drowning in 5-6 minutes and is unconscious from drowning asphyxiation in around 3.
A typical centerfire rifle round (.22-250 through .300wm) shooting a competent soft-point or violently fragmenting hunting bullet destroys a LOT more tissue than even the largest cutting diameter 3-blade broadhead shot through the fastest bow. It is not uncommon to completely destroy the heart, aorta, aortic arch, the entirety of both lungs, and 8" of the vena cava with a rifle round. A broadhead simply cannot do that.
This is the exit hole on an antelope shot with a .300wm at just under 330 yards. I could fit both thumbs in it. There was absolutely no doubt where he was standing when I hit him as there was a 15 foot long, ~30 degree spray of blood and bits of lung that completely painted the sagebrush red. There was nothing identifiable left in his chest cavity, just a pulpy soup.
