My fav day hike spot is just a rocky, steep hill called the "peak of Vissou" a few km away from my town, it takes about 3h to climb and there's a bench at the top with a 360° view, it's a registered trail but I hardly ever see anybody
My favorite overnight spot is in the Hérault river gorges, there's a stretch of river completely devoid of roads and bridges, with pristine shores barely accessible even with a kayak due to the topography.
It's a 40mn drive away from home and completely different than the crowded sea shores where I live. Silence, fresh water, climbing, caves, canyoning, kayak... There's a lot to do.
There are many other and potentially better /out/ spots in my region but this one's really my dearest
