>>1286706Somewhere over 5,000 in repairs. But it is still much much cheaper than paying rent for my old apartment.
I'm renting workshop space in a farm.
I can use some of the tools, take showers with a steam power washer, and drink all the fresh milk I want.
Have to get the van on the road first before I actually start building though.
Its gong to be a quick conversion, similar to pic related with lots of space for pissjugs.
I had the engine replaced, and I'm looking to another rear axle preferable with high speed gearing and I'm aiming to be roadworthy by July.
The engine failed for many reasons but the main one was the vegetable oil.
It was of bad quality and not filtered as it should have been.
The engine is also not suited for it, because it is Direct Injection and does not have Glow Plug Heaters like most engines.
Why that's bad I had no idea, but I took notes
incase anyone here is considering something similar.
The reason it was not starting is because of the Heater Plugs. Vegetable oil is much thicker than Diesel and does not ignite easily so it needs the heater plugs to warm up the engine.
