You can go ultralight and take the bare minimum, but you’re a faggot if your backup plan is “borrow something from the heavier guy who brought more kit”. Lose a tent peg? Don’t ask someone for a spare, make one from a rock or stick. Wet underwear? Should have chosen wool or quickdry synthetic, and know how to dry them quick and stay warm. Run out of pills? Don’t ask for some, learn which plants have the same properties (astringent, dieuretic, diarrhoea etc). Run out of food? Catch or harvest some, faggot.
I hate how r/ultralight has no interest in bushcraft. They could substitute a lot of unnecessary expensive gear for simple wilderness knowledge.
