The monsoon band occurs when a LP moves just east of NM and HP zone roughly over TX and pulls moisture from the *gulf of california and pacific SW of Baja CA* NE over AZ-Nm and swings it around the HP (or rather between the LP and HP) zone. It pulls moisture from the northern Pacific band and subtropical moisture from the baja CA Pacific. It does not undergo a full reversal like the Indian monsoon, in that most of the precipitation is still originally from the Pacific).
