also czech people often speak german or english well.
as mentioned by others before : asking before doing stuff -> do what you want. not asking before doing something -> lube up.
get maps beforehand or have them mailed to you along the trip.
or carry them as pdf on your phone/camera SD card so you can print them in hotels, tourist offices or even shops in town. its free or at least very cheap.
learn/write down the color codes and village/mountain top names along your route. and you can navigate quite well without a map.
respect the rules swiss, germans, and austrians freaking love rules.
