No, but seriously. Whats so silly about that. I used to live in tornado alley, and we kept a bag that we could quickly grab when shit came a knockin. You simply dont have time to gather things up. Now I live in an area prone to both ice storms and forest fires, both of which can be fast and unpredictable, and may not give you the luxury of gathering up food.
Then there are less likely scenarios that everyone should at least be aware of, like pandemics, massive solar flares, and economic collapse. Sure, you might get the opportunity to stock up on supplies, but maybe not.
I wear my seatbelt, not hoping Ill get into an accident, but to be prepared in the unlikely scenario that I need it, even though it might be restrictive.
