I'm facing a dilemma, the place I need to reach is blocked by high speed train rails delimited by metallic fences, possibly electrified, and a deep fat river with high margins similar to this (much bugger), they're parallel to each other with less than a mile distance in between. The underground passage I had planned to take has been closed down and there aren't any other passages within the nearest 10km from the path I intended to travel initially.
There're 3 alternatives, one is riding my bike to the east where the river meets the sea, there is a town with suspended passages that lets you walk past the rails and bridges to cross the river, the problem is that this town is a tourist trap near an airport, a train station and there's a port, it's really packed with people in summer in addition to being almost 20km away from the planned path.
The second alternative is an inner town to the other direction following the river which is almost 50km away to the north-west but it should be almost empty in summer and there's no rails in that area.
The third alternative is taking a long detour and passing behind the river's source to the far north-west, which solves most of the problems but it's a 100km detour. Still, I thought that if I'm going for this option I might as well take my time and reach the mountain range to the west that goes straight north, it should be chilly in this season and there're less nuisances, the detour would be even longer but I don't know if I'm in a hurry yet.
I could maybe enter one of the small train stops and use its suspended passage to cross the rails but I didn't like going on "TV" and there's still the issue of the river. I'm not afraid to climb the fence as long as it's not electrified and maybe swim my way through the river but I don't know how to bring my backpack and bike to the other side.
How would you deal with this?
