>>530143 cont'd3) A classic Worm/Pig'n'Jig Setup (Baitcast)
- Abu Garcia Vengeance rod (6'9" Medium-Heavy and what I'd describe as a Fast or even Very Fast action)
- Abu Black Max (bought with the rod as a combo)
- Berkley Vanish 14 lb fluorocarbon
I use her to throw a pig'n'jig. The pork'n'promenade My ham'n'jam. The chop'n'bop... I'll cut that out now. Also a Texas or Carolina Rig is fine too. Or the occasional wacky rig.
4) Spinnerbait Rod (Baitcast)
- Wright & McGill Skeet Reese S-Curve Worm/Spinner Bait rod (7', Med-Fast)
- older Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5500 hi-speed retrieve. Wal-Mart/FLW Tour model and my first barrel/non-low-profile baitcaster in a long time (a gift from a coworker)
- Berkley Vanish 12 lb fluorocarbon
Shortly before my last fishing trip my co-worker's missus had him cleaning house a bit. We both enjoy the outdoors, talking about fishing and such, and he'd mentioned he had a baitcaster he could never get the hang of using. He said he'd used it maybe five or so times and got tired of peeling line and picking V's and that I could have it. So the day before I leave he passes it on to me along with some old Field & Streams and such. I brought everything else inside the house but left the reel in the truck. So I get up to PA and realize I've a reel and no rod to go with it. When I go to the Wal-Mart to get my fishing license they have the Skeet Reese rods marked down something like 50% and one just happens to be the spinner bait rod. At that point I don't have a dedicated spinner rod and I took it as a sign, immediately buying it (the remaining rods were all gone by the next day). Long story short his reel and that rod helped me catch pic related, along with some great largemouth, and ended up being the most productive setup during my vacation.
