It's just more and more the simple task of adding some extra protection has been perverted into a buisness and rather than providing a good service and staying there, they are constantly trying to one up and sell more shit, and there is only so much you can sell of a good product. So instead they need to invest into marketing and gimmicks to sell you more to the point where we have gone for something as stupid as "looks" while deciding shoes or trying to remove the feet from actually doing their job.
