>>17074What I'm regretting is that I feel like I missed out on the whole experience, not just the Eagle rank or whatever. I remember in my first year, we would play capture the flag in the field at night, and we were so loud that someone called the cops. I get sent out to pick up the flags and I get this bright-ass flashlight in my face. I come back with this policeman behind me, he shines the light in my troop's faces, one of the dads covers his eyes and says, "Who the fuck is that?... Oh, hello officer." It was the most fun I can remember having, honestly. Then everyone quit/moved/turned 18, one by one. Some new kids moved in and I became an outsider who only showed up once a month.
...Fuck. I'm now realizing for the first time how much I would have enjoyed scouting if I had liked my troop like I did in that first year.
