I’m in a small city in the mountains in Japan and I noticed that the creeks have these crayfishes, apparently these are an invasive species. There are lots of fishes where it is deeper, it is used in rice farms and other stuff and there are frogs and dragonflies, both sensitive to pesticides so I guess the water is pretty clean. A typical summer activity for kids is to pick those by using some dried squid on a string and slowly drag it so the crayfish will come out of the water holding the bait so I guess it should be ok to fish those but I could be wrong.
