>>1856450Have a medium light somewhere between 6'5 and 7'6 with a reel (daiwa if you're a daiwaboo like me) with 10lb braid with a fluorocarbon leader or 6-8lb monofilament. If you're fishing rivers like mine then jigheads and 2-4 inch soft plastics with the occasional jerkbait or topwater is really all you need at it's most basic. Like skid said, look for riffles and the Eddies after them. Know what species are in your local watershed and find the best way to target them where you think that they'll be. No two rivers are the same.
