>>1386148>umbrellaDid someone say umbrella? Unironically an awesome choice if the conditions allow.
>>1386151>ponchosPonchos also have their time and place. If you are out somewhere that doesn't require much bushwhacking etc then they are great. Super breathable and bonus points if you have a poncho tarp!
>>1386180>frog toggsI found a frog toggs jacket and though I'd try it out as I had heard so stuff about them. Apart from being kinda goofy looking and fragile they are actually pretty good rain jackets, considering they cost nothing.
>>1385911>Are rain jackets a meme? No. But they are over-marketed. It's pretty simple, the more breathable a jacket is the less water proof it is. So you have to pick an item the suits the activity you are going to use it for. When I'm doing something high output like running or cycling then I will wear a much more breathable jacket that is more about keeping me warm than dry. I even hike in a straight up windjacket and just suck up getting wet knowing that I'll keep warm. But if I am going to be standing stationary in the rain then I'll put on something like a heavy waxed jacket. There is no jacket that is suitable for all conditions. So work out what you'll be doing with it.
>Gore-TexGor-tex is over-marketed but it is a good material. It does require care though to keep it breathable and waterproof. You have to look after your gear.
