>>286027>>286299>>287486> instead of looking for a fucking job? You've never had to care for yourself while you were poor, have you? Because it's not that simple. You work for minimum wage, barely enough to pay for your living expenses, let alone fund any sort of achievement. You know why so many poor people get high? When you can't afford real good times you pay for the closest thing possible, an hour of distraction in a bottle or baggie.
And that shit sucks when there are jobs available. Good luck even finding a job with or without a college education. And say you get a job, finally, and it fucking sucks. Degrading and miserable for barely any pay. Is it ungrateful to quit, after searching for so long? With so many other people unemployed wanting jobs? Maybe. Your only consolation is that it's honest work - your honest work, for $6 an hour, while a few assholes make billions for negotiating with other businessmen in 5 star hotels. Maybe this sounds angsty and immature to you, but that's how it feels, and the anger, frustration and hypocrisy is all to real when you're in that situation. Is it ungrateful to quit? Maybe. Maybe it's just self respect.
And maybe you don't realize it, but that's how a whole lot of young people feel, and you saying we're shitty people for feeling that way makes YOU seem naiive. Whenever I hear criticism like this I can't help but think it's coming from someone who's trying to appeal to their elders, trying to earn a pat on the back from an old guy saying "most young people are lazy and dumb, but you're one of the good ones".
And saying "trying to achieve something in a squat" like that's so ridiculous is pretty funny. Living on the street gives you more chances to directly help people than any other position you could realistically put yourself in.
