You make a blood knot, or half bloodknot depending on what you want to call it, and then you heat the tip you pull through until its swollen slightly but not until its on fire, be careful not to heat the entire knot since it will stiffen the line, it will make it stronger to a degree but if you heat the entire knot slightly too much it will be brittle and break easily.
I borrowed(?) some 70 or 80lbs mono my friend brought back from indonesia and made pike leaders with it, used 4 turns in both ends, i clipped it for the swivels now, but it lasted +1000 casts and a bounch of 8lbs pikes easily
dont think twisting a thick line more than 4 or 5 times will make the knot stronger, it really wont. also make sure the spit on the line before tightening it
