Sup /out/ers. To make a boring story short, I recently returned two jackets back to The North Face for warranty reasons. Ever since the company was bought by Vanity Fair- a huge corporate conglomerate, I have seen a steep decline over the last several years in quality, but a heavy ramp up in quantity. Their clothing can be purchased nearly everywhere such as Costco, Walmart, Nordstrom's, Macy's etc. etc.
However, and I cannot back this up with any sources, I think their Summit and Expedition Series equipment is still primarily controlled and influenced by the company its self- I think their higher end gear is still made with fucks given and is a better representation of the brand and who they used to be.
I've got a gift card for $350 to use on whatever I like. The only thing that interests me is the VE25 tent or maybe another Summit Series sleeping bag. The thought driving this purchase is that I do a lot of camping in the Alps in the winter with friends and it would be a great tent to get my wife out more to where she feels comfortable not getting soaked.
>Summit Series>Great reviews>Made quite well>A bit heavy>Lifetime warrantyThoughts? Thanks dudes and dudettes.
