Mostly because the towns are so far apart, but also because swedes in general aren't too keen on giving rides to strangers. It's a shame really, but fortunately our train and bus network is well developed.
>Or is the best stuff really remote?Well the best stuff is always remote, but most places with trails, both in southern and northern sweden, are already remote enough that is doesn't really matter. Though of course, if you're after a real connection with nature, the really remote trails in northern Sweden are definetely your best bet.
