>>1357948I've had surprisingly good luck with my Vazee Pace V2's for the past year, only minor damage on the sole as it's being worn away. I've also used the New Balance Minimus shoes a few times, to try out "minimalist" running. But I'm no expert. I'm no pro runner or anything at all, but I do run 2 miles about every other day, 14:27-15:00 depending on the day. That said, I don't do a lot of trail running. I've heard great things about Salomon's as

Take this with a grain of salt, but the "pro" or "extreme" runners that I've talked to tend to treat running shoes as disposable. They just find a decent enough shoe, run a few marathons, then toss them. One guy even bought a new pair after every marathon he's run. There's also a HUGE debate between barefoot vs minimalist vs traditional running shoes, which also has to do with heel vs mid vs toe strike running.
