>>2392098I've hiked a lot at this point but still consider myself a novice. The thing is if you enjoy the outdoors you don't care where you are. You hunt and fish different wildlife on either coast. Regardless of where you are at this point you will be surrounded by a lot of people at the prominent locations. I really hate these threads because people just gatekeep tf out of the rockies, but there are local spots in the appalachians where you can jump off of waterfalls and climb really remote peaks that nobody knows about. I'm not saying the west doesn't have that, but in the appalachians you have to venture out a little more to find the right spots.
