>>2484641>>2488216Ferro rods really are the best fire starting tool to have. If you have one and stick a fatwood, you are pretty much golden. Plus it is fun to practice with less than ideal materials. I also enjoy making different types of pre packaged fire starters that you carry with you. Been making some of these lately, except with my cotton is saturated with vaseline. A little messy to make, but once they are done they are nice clean package. Pop them open, spread your material a bit and hit it with a ferro rod. One will burn for a good few minutes, plenty of time to get a fire going.
