Hey /out/, relatively new to gardening here but I've got a bit of experience. Usually I just plant strawberry/tomato plants without having to do much care (other than occasionally having to support the stems), but this year I decided to plant some watermelon seeds.
Southern Ontario isn't exactly a tropical paradise late April/early May, so my first batch of seeds didn't seem to grow. I decided to plant earlier since apparently you'll have more success raising the sprouts inside, or planting in late April (these directions were most likely for warmer climates). I planted some seeds again during May 24, and got them popping up now, thank god for those sunny days!
Anyways, what I'd like to know is if I've planted these guys too late, at least for my region. Hopefully I'll have some melons by August, I'm just hoping it doesn't get too cold by then, any tips? I've made sure to give them plenty of sunlight, planted them in the middle bed so shade from the fences won't block the sunlight, I've also planted 3-4 seeds rather close every 30-40 cm. Here's a few photos, sorry for the quality.
