>>2120452Yeah you'll want an 8 weight and a general purpose line, and my go to leader is 3 feet of 25pound test, 3 feet of 20 pound test, and 3 feet of 14 pound test. If they're being spooky it's easy to cut the fly off and tie 3 feet of 12 pound line to the end to make a 12ish foot leader.
As for fly selection, they really like crawdads and just about anything else with a shell.
>pic relatedThis is my go-to fly. I call it the backwards bug, I can tie it from a #2 to a #12 but I usually just keep #4, #6, and #8 on hand. It also works well for smallmouth, largemouth, and I'm certain if I took some tan ones to Florida I'd have no issues catching bonefish or snook.
