I took a few night hikes last fall when my shift switched to overnights. It's good times.
I use a rechargeable headlamp and an old army side angle light with an LED upgrade.
I bought a Sidewinder Streamlight with a belt clip to try out in summer.
I also keep an old Garmin GPS that has an option to track my steps after I realized how easy it is to get turned around innawoods in the dark. Even though I've been in those woods loads of times during the day.
Basic 1st aid kit isn't a terrible idea either but don't buy a bunch of shit you don't know how to use.
