There are probably better things out there if you want to just split big rounds all day but I've felled and processed dead standing pine trees with it before - the longer shaft of the Scandi Forest axe would have been nice but this fits quite neatly in or on most of my packs. It's a capable tool in the hands of a capable user just like anything and as for the price, it's entirely up to you and your value system where you stand on that, I know plenty of people on this board scoff at the very idea of paying 60 bucks for a hatchet but I personally am fine with it.
