I should have also mentioned that I wouldn't stay too long with it under a pouring rain either, only long enough until I find some shelter.
But still, high end ones are supposed to be waterproof, and they usually base their assumptions on the Goretex they're made of, acting like it has the performances of Goretex, when those well known performances are those of Goretex plus waterproof barrier. If softshells were that good, indeed, hardshells would have no reason to exist.
Having tested a few of these, they do outperform my Decathlon softshell... but eventually leak anyway.
