You could go with a 10wt if you want to throw really large flies or have big pike/musky in your area. As for tying flies, Gunnar Brammer on youtube has two playlists of videos called "Tie Like a Pro" and "Beginner Predator Flies" which helped me transition from tying trout flies to pike/musky flies. I could recommend some rods, reels and lines if you have a specific price range in mind.
