>>2316947My brother, I picked up the 7' ugly stick catfish spinning combo. I have gone fishing with it three times since I made this post
>>2316167 I'm itching. I went fishing this morning when I first woke up, worked eight hours, just got off and dammit there's a little voice in the back of my head going "you can go fishing right now, just for an hour or two, you don't work until 10 today what's going to sleep at 2 or 3?" I got the itch.
>>2316719I've just been having my bait stolen out the ass and I've been having such a good time. The Scioto River is really flooded right now so I tried the town lake, which is filled by the Scioto. I would either have my bait stolen with no pole or line change, so I'm pretty sure it was little feeder fish just picking the chicken liver right off the hook. I chum conservatively compared to others, but all of my free chicken liver was starting some feeding frenzies. There's plenty of shad and minnows in the lake. I'm just not targeting the catfish there right. I run a 30 pound braid to 50 pound mono lead. Sometimes a regular old sliding sinker catfish rig. Sometimes I'll get frisky with some different santee style rigs if I feel like I need to get my bait off the bottom. As far as catching what's been taking my bait. I've been just slowly dialing down my hook size until I get on to something. Tomorrow (maybe tonight) I'll try a bass sized gamakatsu on my light tackle pole with a little bit of liver and see if that gets me something out of the lake
The river is impossible to get to most places. It is super duper flooded and very fast. But I'm too stubborn. There's a spot I, very badly, fished this morning on the river. I've been thinking about it all morning and I think if I actually played the very close bank of the river on this one spot, I might be right in catfish territory. My buddy pulled his PB 61 pound shovelhead out of this flooded river just two days ago on the same stretch of bank. Just gotta be there when the fish are
