the campground. So basically I think this trip is somewhat sketchy to begin with. It's going to be a tough trek almost for certain. We may even get to the athabasca and say fuck this. The fall back is there is some 15km of trail before you hit that bridge and other fishing and camping in that area as a backup. Having done a good amount of fishing in mountain rivers and streams I will say you can probably walk the river and find a place to cross at some point reasonable safely but you will probably get wet. Having experienced run off, there is a chance to be seriously fucked if the conditions change by the return. The danger becomes being swept away and getting pinned into a fallen tree or hitting rocks. The trick is going to be getting to the lake after ice off but before the melt from the glaciers makes the rivers dangerous to cross. Really it will come down to what conditions present themselves.
