>>1529057Completely untrue. Anyone can be a "landscape designer", all landscape designers are qualified for is residential, so if you just want to design yards that's fine. "landscape architect" is a regulated profession which requires certification. Any civic, commercial, natural space, etc, kind of work ASIDE from residential requires drawings from a fully certified LA. Much in the same way that a carpenter cannot produce his own drawings for a commercial building or institutional building.
Consider any park, streetscape, trail system, educational or corporate campus, remediation project, etc. All designed by LA's who had to be certified, not just "any retard who knows a little bit about plants".
So no, its much more regulated than that. Yes it is a real profession. Yes there are jobs in that field.
Not to be rude but you are very misinformed about what you are talking about, it sounds like your only exposure to the trade is design-build professionals in the residential sphere. That's ok though, I had the same misconceptions at one point. The American association of landscape architects has a good explanation as to what exactly an LA's qualifications and regulations entail.
