If you really want to make the best fires you have to practise making campfires and burning diffrent types of wood. Some wood burns faster than others eucalyptus for example. Curvy willow, Oak, maple is good it lasts long. Maple also makes a hissing sound as you burn it. Birch sucks ass, its oily and burns fast. Sone wood like sequioa is hard to burn and also its smelly. Its smells like ass when your burning it. My favorite wood to burn is hopthorn. It lasts so long, makes no weird smells and has a nice crackling sound to it. One time I was camping burning my hopthorn. It was midnight and my fire was still growing strong after 4 hours. Everyone else's fire died under two hours. I distinctly remember a 3DPD make a comment about my fire. "How much wood did he bring?" This was in a desert where you had to bring your own wood.
