>>1416936I've already set up my own business, granted I have partners and only have a small holding in the company. I have stepped back from that, letting my partners run the show and I'm basically a silent investor now. So I get quarterly dividends and we plan to sell the company down the track when it reaches X value and that will help towards my retirement. This a long way off though.
Also I was looking to step away from working 120+ hrs p/w in my industry and move into working outdoors, primarily as a hiking guide. Looking to do something that I loved and also getting paid for it. Less pay but also less hours and better quality of life. We managed to get or foot in the door and worked for a eco wilderness lodge for a 4 month season which suits us fine. We earn't enough money in that 4 months to easily sustain us travelling for 10 months. It also opened up the door for us to work in similar roles across the country so we could change the area we worked, again suiting our travelling lifestyle.
One of the major reasons we wanted to do this trip was to find an area where we could buy some land that suited all our needs. We have found a couple of areas that we could settle down and also use as a base. It would be a slow process but we would develop the land for semi-subsistence farming and build some type of off-grid small house on it.
>>1416542I can see that but I don't preach this shit, just trying to adequately describe what we do. IMO it will always sound pretentious.
