>>2400418I have the 10x42s. The size jump from the ones you're looking at is basically only weight. They are still very compact binoculars with a similar footprint. I haven't used the ones you're looking at so I can't say for sure, but the specs alone mean that in theory you will get far less "performance" and not just due to the zoom obviously. They probably will not be very good in low light which can suck in areas with lots of shade from trees, and at dusk/dawn. If you don't mind the extra weight, I'd honestly go for the 10x42s. They're also the better value per dollar. They seem to be out of stock right now, but they are constantly on sale for between $110-120 which is a steal for how nice they are. They are heavy enough that it might not be comfortable to hang around your neck while hiking a long way, but then again no binoculars are really comfortable for that. I can definitely vouch for the clarity on the 10x42s though, they're great.
